There was no rapture so I deleted 150 blogs.

Obviously the rapture wasn't that big of a thing. I'm still here. Everything's fine. If this is hell I can live with it. It would mean that I've already lived in hell 19 years.
I spent this last day on earth reading tweets about the rapture and having a big smile on my face. Nothing amuses me more than things like the end of the world and such wonderful stuff.
So now I'm still here reading tweets about the rapture, 'cause you know...it goes from time zone to time zone...there are still some hours left until the whole world is raptured. niiice.
Okay. I should probably stop making fun of the rapture.

What I actually wanted to talk about is that I felt like I follow too many blogs again. I went through all the blogs I follow a few months ago and after that I followed like 110 blogs. Today I went to blogger and checked how many blogs I follow and 176 is definitely way too much.

I said to myself "Antonia. You are going to unfollow every blog you are not interested anymore, never read or can't relate with."

So that's what I did. I turned on some music from the 70s and started deleting.
I unfollowed and unfollowed and unfollowed.
I came across blogs I've never seen before (it felt like that).
I came across blogs where I thought "Why do I follow this?!?!?!?"
I came across blogs that don't exist anymore.
I came across blogs that went from public to private.
And I deleted and deleted.
I was down to 100 blogs.
And I kept deleting.
Only 70 left.
And I was still unfollowing.
Only 50.
And I didn't feel like I was done.
Only 40.
I started crying.
I didn't regret it.
I cried because I couldn't believe that I am able to do this.
It's such a relief.
And I kept unfollowing.
And then I stopped at 29. (Actually 27, two of them are my own blogs...yes, I do follow myself...)

27 blogs.
Twenty-seven!

I still can't believe it.
It feels so good.

I'm sorry if I stopped following you. I did it, because I need to change my life. I'm trying over and over again and it never works. For now it's better for me to follow only people I "know" (you know, the internet way of knowing) for a while. Where I don't want to miss a single post.
It could happen that I start following some of you again after a few months. This radical thing is just temporary.

If you follow me and I followed you and now I unfollowed you and now you feel like you don't want to follow me anymore, because I don't follow you anymore...do it. If the reason why you follow me is because I follow you back then I can only shake my head, turn around and burst into tears and laughter. Because follow for follow is as amusing as the rapture.

an anniversary post because TOMORROW is my blog anniversary.

Tomorrow is the 2nd anniversary of my blog. Yay! I love blog anniversaries. I like them more than my own birthday...um...no comment...
I still don't have a lot of ideas for my blog's little birthday. There will be a giveaway most likely someday pretty soon. I have an idea for that, but I'm not sure how it'll turn out and first I have to make it. Means a lot of thinking and crafting over the weekend (which starts tomorrow afternoon...do I ALWAYS have to point out that my weekends start wednesday afternoon? Apparently, yes).

This is a pre-anniversary post. I don't have anything better to do, except going to university...where I should be right now...but who cares about university? That's why I'm sitting in bed with my pj pants on (it's 4 pm) listening to Tom Milsom. I just downloaded some more of his music, which he gives away for free (or you can pay if you want) and every time I download something I feel bad for not paying. But one day when I earn my own money I'll download some of his music again, just to give him money. I really want to do that :)

The last year was amazing. Internet-wise. My real life is nothing else than a mess. So many things happened. My first blogger year was good as well, but I feel like the second year was much better. I got closer to my followers and I feel at home when I open Blogger.
I'm also much more me now. I've always been me, but it was hard for me during the first year to be 100% me without trying hard to be perfect. I'm not perfect.
I also met some awesome people. I totally count Shaynie and Hope to my best friends now. Thank you! :)

I entered the world of Twitter, which was one of the best things I've ever done. I refused another year to join Facebook, which is also one of the best things I'm doing...avoiding Facebook.
And finally today at 5:30 am (or something like that) I joined Tumblr. Which was also a long way. I always thought Tumblr is great, but I never wanted to join it. Recently I followed a bunch of Tumblr blogs wihout having a Tumblr, which turned out to be hard. Imagine following 10-15 blogs wihout having them in your Reader or on your Dashboard.
That's why I joined Tumblr. My Tumblr ist called "scraps of old volumes, wire and glue". Check it out and feel free to follow (and you are also welcome to do this crazy thing where you follow it without having Tumblr, which I have to warn you will turn into you making a Tumblr).

My Tumblr titles comes from one of my favorite songs ever. The Worm in the Apple - Ezra Furman and the Harpoons.
Titles...hm...I like the title for my Tumblr and I'm okay with my blog title. It could have been worse. I chose this name two years ago, when I had no idea how to name things and my English wasn't the best back then.
Another good thing. My English is much better now. When I started two years ago I could have never written such a long post. The internet is the best way to learn English.

Now, this was a lot of rambling. Before I go and try to find something to eat (haven't eaten anything yet...only some chocolate) enjoy this little video. I put together a video with all the pictures I took with my webcam since December 2010. I love to play around with my webcam.

A break from some parts of the internet

Here's what I wrote in my Alphabet post last week:

I'm also thinking about doing a blogger/internet break. I feel like it is kind of necessary. I have several reasons. The last time I was off the computer for more than one day was in July when I was in the nowhere of Denmark!

And that's what I'm now going to do. A break.

2 weeks long, maybe 3. Starting tomorrow, February 1st.

This is now the second time that I'm trying to write this post. It's so hard. I don't know what to write about.

I think the best thing is to keep it short.

I NEED a break.

The main reason is, that I have to concentrate on my life a bit more (my life away from the internet...the internet is a part of my life) because it got complicated again which is not what I expected and wanted.

And I want to spend less time on the internet (it isn't a secret that I spend most of my time in front of my laptop).

When I'm around the internet I spend my time only on four pages.

Blogger/Google Reader/ your blogs ;)

YouTube

Twitter

I'll take a break from Blogger/Google Reader and YouTube.

YouTube: I'm a bit addicted and I spend way too much time there. That's why I want to spend 2 (or 3) weeks without watching YouTube videos. It's going to be easy. It's not that I won't survive a day without watching a video, it's just an addictive thing if you watch one video and then the next and the next...I can't stop until I fall asleep.

That's why I need a break.

Exception: I'll watch new Vlogbrothers videos. I can't live without them and I don't want to live without them and they are worth watching (not like a lot of other videos I watch which are just for entertainment).

Means 6 (or 9) videos the next 2 (or 3) weeks. That's like NOTHING. I calculated that there are almost 80 new videos in my subscription box every week...so yeah...

But enough YouTube talk!

Blogger/Google Reader: I'm not addicted to those things. I love Blogger and I love your blogs. I'm more sorry to tell you that I won't read your blogs the next weeks than to announce that I won't blog. Honestly.

I love blogging. But at the moment it's completely impossible.

My current life doesn't fit into blogging. I have no ideas what to write and even this thing here is hard. I can't blog as long as my life doesn't work.

Sorry.

I'll also take a break of every other page on the internet. I'll only use Gmail, Twitter and pages I need for university.

I'll still be around gmail, because I don't have friends in real life at the moment. All my friends are on the internet and even my friends from school turned into internet contacts, mostly because most of them (2 of 3 :P I never had lots of friends) are currently in Sweden.

And Twitter. Because it is fun. And it helps to be informed about everything and anything.

So if you want to know what I'm doing and thinking during this break, you can read my Twitter and feel free to follow (if you have a Twitter account) or write me an email.

I'll miss you a lot! :(

But I hope that this break will help me with my life.

Blogger changed my life...and it's okay

That's how it looks like, when I'm working on my blog.

Oh my, why can't I work on my blog the whole day?

It would be an awsome job! 

Don't get me wrong, I'm not obsessed, I just love it.

I'm reading posts on blogs about people getting too much into blogging and think all the time about their blog and forget all the other important stuff around them. It's always interesting to read such posts, but I don't feel that way.

I LOVE blogging and currently it IS one of the important things in my life, but I don't see and feel it the way some other bloggers feel it. 

I totally understand that people get scared about how much time they spend on blogger and it's okay if they see it as something they don't want to happen.

For me it's different.

I spend a lot of time in front of the computer and on the internet and I have to admit that I should not sit that much in front of it, but still, I can only say one thing about my situation of blogging:

Since I started my blog everything's getting better and better every day.

If someone would ask me which of the decisions I made in the last years was the best, I would answer 

"Starting blogging."

And that's what I'm going to talk about in my next big post (there will be for sure some of those random short posts with just a picture and a few words in it in the meantime. Oh, how much do I love to do those posts?).

I want to share with you, why everything's getting better since I started my blog.

It's important for me to share the story.

Day 02 - the why.

    
 Why I started blogging and the meaning behind my blog title.

Some people started a blog, because someone of their friends/family had a blog. I started blogging, because Charles Frederick Worth designed an awesome dress for Elisabeth, the empress of Austria.

 Isn't it a lovely dress?

Yes, that's how it started. But let's tell you the whole story.

It all started in Winter 2008/2009. I would like to tell you the exact date. I wrote it down in my diary, but accidently the diary is in my room at my parents house and I'm not there. But I think it was somewhere around January...

I had to prepare a presentation about Charles Frederick Worth for school. Charles Frederick Worth was an English fashion designer and "the father of Haute Couture" (for those of you who didn't know that ;).

I was searching for some pictures of dresses he designed on google and one picture was the picture you can see above. I clicked at the picture and were linked to...yes, you guessed right...a blog.

It wasn't the first time, that I saw a blog. My brother had one, but not on Blogger. Sometimes I thought a blog would be much fun, but than I thought: "Who wants to read it?" My friends aren't people who sit around at home reading blogs or surfing on the internet that much. And I didn't want to write without having readers and commenters.

Back to the blog I found.

The blog doesn't exist anymore, so I'm sorry, I can't give you a link to the blog. 

I read nearly all the blog posts the girl wrote (many posts, trust me!) and after reading the girl's blog I clicked at the follower images and read blogs of other people and there I clicked again on the followers and so on and on...

Finally I ended up at this blog: doing the write thing

At the time I stopped by, Suzanne (the girl behind this blog) did a survey about "Home" on her blog. I joined and answered her questions and we started to write e-mails and she encouraged me to start a blog. Now I'm here! Hello! :)

That's the story behind my blog. I'm glad I did this and I'm happy about where I ended up. I could have ended up everywhere on Blogger. But I didn't. I'm here in the middle of many awesome people! You are amazing! :)

The second thing is the blog title. I'm sorry that I have to tell you, that there is no story behind the title. I just sat down and tried to find a name for my blog and it turned out, thta the name is "Outside Into Life". I think there was an other possible title, but I can't remember. I think I wrote it down in my diary, which is...yes, not here...

That's my story!
Oh, and how wonderful is it that this post about my blog is at the same time my 200th post?

Wow, 50 followers

This morning I logged into blogger and I stared at the number 50! Fifty followers! Oh, I can't believe it. Thank you!
I'm so happy about it!
(If you wondered, Leser ist the German word for followers...)

Later this day I'll post the Vienna photos. Yes, I'll post them! I told you on Saturday, that I'll post them, but I didn't. My life is busy again. I still haven't finished school. 16 more days!
I spend my whole day studying or I SHOULD study the whole day (I don't do that...)
I'm so looking forward to the end of school, but it scares me at the same time.

I now have to go to study a bit. A bit Biology, a bit English and a bit Religion.

Random things

I love to post random things!

1. I added a list to my sidebar. It's a list of things I want to do until the end of the year. I know, people usually do such lists at the beginning of the year, but it's fun to do anyway.
Here is the list. Probably I'll add some more things.

( ) watch 100 movies
( ) read the New Testament
( ) visit three different countries
( ) get my first own laptop
( ) read all Narnia books
( ) sew four skirts/dresses
( ) learn how to cook

That's how the list looks like at the moment. I'll write a "x" into the brakes, when I reached it. At the point with the movies and the books I'll down the number of movies/books, I've already reached.
At the moment it looks like that:

(12) read 100 books
(50) watch 100 movies

I think I'll never reach the 100 books thing...


2. A good friend and I are going to Vienna tomorrow. I'm so excited about it. Firstly because I haven't seen that friend for months and secondly because I love Vienna!
I'll post some pictures at the weekend.

3. Do you like Owl City? I'm not really a fan of Owl City, but I like some songs of them and I found an amazing cover of "Fireflies" on Youtube. You totally have to check out the videos of this girl. She's such a talented girl and she does covers of many christian bands.

4. I changed my mind. I like Lord of the Rings! I watched the third movie some days ago and now I like it a lot. (Maybe I dislike it again, when I rewatch them ;P It changes all the time. Like-dislike-like-dislike...don't know why)
Do you want to know my favourite characters? Here they are:
Sam - my favourite Hobbit!
Legolas - I like how he and Gimli talk to each other. So funny! And Legolas always has less arrows in his quiver than he actually uses in the fight (I counted them!)
Aragorn - I just like him, don't know why. Seems to be a nice guy ;) And he always survives...
and
Gollum - yes, one of my favourite characters is Gollum. I know, he is a bad character, but he's an interesting character.
Oh, I nearly forgot to mention the trees. The Ents. I like them a lot.

Yesterday was my blog anniversary! One year blogging. That's cool.

It was an awesome first year and I want to say "Thank you!" to all of you.
I'm glad that I started this blog and I'll never regret it.
Here are some of my reasons, why I love blogging:

• You can write about what you want and share interesting things with other people
• You "meet" amazing people
• Followers and comments :)
• Following other blogs and read interesting posts
• I improve my language skills all the time. The best thing you can do if you want to improve your language skills, is reading something in this language EVERY DAY! For me there isn't much difference anymore between reading a German or an English text. It depends on how difficult the text is, but most of the time, I can switch between the languages without realising that I switched the language...
  
• Click at the "whos amung" button at the end of the right sidebar and look at the map. Except three people, all my readers are from North America. I always wanted to have contacts all over the world, but I've never thought, that it is that easy. I LOVE to meet people from all over the world!
• I'm happy about where I ended up at blogger. Let's say it in different words: There are many different types of blogs out there. Blogs about life, crafting, fashion, books etc. And there are always people behind these blogs. It could have happened, that I started a blog about fashion instead of one about...um...what's my blog about? - I don't know...um...because I'm quite interested in fashion. But I think I would have completely different followers with other opinions and a different lifestyle. The thing I want to say is, that all of my followers (I think all of you, if not - sorry for saying all :) are christians.
  You encourage me a lot!
  I think I should write a post about my faith. Yes, I think I have to write about it...

I think that's it.

It's great to create your own background, but...

...but if you don't have enough skills in doing it, it could happen, that you have the same problem as I have at the moment.

I really like my new background and I'm a bit proud, because I did it on my own AND like it. But I'm not that good at the HTML/CSS stuff. I had some lessons at school, two years ago, but I have never learned, how to create blog backgrounds. We only learned think I will never need... ;)
I used some tutorials, which I found on the internet and it worked well, BUT! I have a problem.

When I visit my blog using my laptop, it looks like this:

Perfect! Exactly how I want it.

When I use the computer of my parents, it looks like this:

How awful!
I know the reason: My laptop has a smaller screen than my parents computer, but I don't know how to fix it, so that it looks the same on any computer!

Do you know how I can fix that?

I wasn't really away, I was just to busy to blog.

I have a new background, which I honestly don't really like ;) But it's better than nothing.
And I have two new things on the right.
