I went to one of my favorite stores in town. Also known as electronic retailer. Um, yeah. I love this store. It's nice to look at all the stuff I'll never ever buy. It's strange. I can go to the electronic retailer looking at all this amazing stuff without wishing I had enough money to buy it. For some reason this doesn't work at fashion stores....hm...but hey, what am I talking about? Back to the electronic retailer.
I go there pretty often. That means every time I finished a season of Friends. So today I went there to buy season 7 and realized on my way back home that I've already spend almost 70€ on Friends. That's insane. Am I crazy? I don't earn any money. I don't have a job. I don't do anything I should do. I don't deserve a single episode. Great, now I feel bad about watching Friends. But I should really stop buying stuff. I shouldn't buy anything anymore until I have a job.
But what am I talking about again? Antonia, look at the post title. This should be about Disney and Pixar, okay? (Now I'm talking to myself. I'll never get to the point. sigh)
Back to the story. I was at the electronic store. I picked up Friends Season 7. On the way to the check out I passed a big shelf with Disney and Pixar movies. I stopped. And took a look.
"Hm...let's see how many of these oh so awesome movies I've seen."
A few minutes later I'm done. There was Finding Nemo. I've definitely seen this one. Also 101 Dalmatians. And...and...and I've probably seen Cars. And I've seen half of Ratatouille. And...um...I think that's it.
I think you can say by now that I'm NOT a Disney fan girl. Wait. Disney produced Pirates of the Caribbean, right? Well, I love that. But I'm not talking about movies with real people in it.
Even though I don't want to see more Disney/Pixar movies (except maybe Tangled) I think I should watch some. I feel like it's a lack of general education or something like that. I mean, I haven't seen a single Toy Story movie! I can't talk about who my favorite Disney princess is, because I haven't seen a single Disney movie with a princess in it. Why is it called Disney princess anyway? Disney didn't invent them. There were those two guys. Jacob and Willhelm Grimm. Remember?
So I have a new plan for the summer. Watch Disney and Pixar movies. Also other animated movies. I don't like animated movies, but I kinda like it to torture myself when it comes to movies.
I have three movies on my list that I want to see (really want to see). Tangled, Despicable Me and I want to get through Ratatouille. Oh, and Toy Story.
What do you think? Do you like Disney/Pixar/animated movies? What's your favorite? What would you suggest?
I really like animated films! Tangled was fab and Toy Story 3 was the best of the bunch. I really need to watch Up & Despicable Me, I've heard so much about them. And so you feel less guilty about buying Friends, you could get the DVDs from an online rental, something like LoveFilm or Netflix. It's cheaper, and if you don't own it it's not like you've paid for it. Or something.
ReplyDeleteYou gotta watch the Toy Stories and Monsters, Inc. Monsters is the BEST!
ReplyDeleteI love most Pixar movies, except for Toy Story and Cars. As far as the rest go, Tangled is amazing, Up is adorable, and Despicable Me is just downright cute. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the Disney- Pixar movies. They're light entertainment. They're funny, but not slapstick- for- the- idiots funny. They'd be great for you, I think, since you usually blog about hardcore movies. Something light would be a good break.
ReplyDeleteDisney- Pixar brings out the kid in everyone! :D
Tangled's not Disney- Pixar. It's just Disney. :)
My recommendations:
1. UP - the cutest movie ever with a unique plot
2. Tangled
3. Ratatouille - It's Paris in realistic 3D.
Have fun viewing! Write reviews after watching when you can, please. :)
The princesses are Grimm originals, but Disney added whole new twists to each so that they're more wholesome. Like The Little Mermaid is actually a tragic tale by Andersen, but the Disney version is sooooooo much less depressing. :) Pocahontas is historical, but she most definitely did not fall in love with John Smith. They're called Disney princesses, I think, because Disney transformed them a lot so that they're no longer their originals. Hmm... I hope I explained that clearly. :)
ReplyDeleteHave you seen Beauty and the Beast? How about Mulan? Those are my favorite DP movies... I think Aurora of Sleeping Beauty is a whimp. :P
Hmm.. What should i suggest :)
ReplyDeleteWell my favorite Pixar movies are "Up", "Toy Story(all 3)" and "Monsters Inc" but to be honest.. all of Pixars movies are great :)
And other cartoon movies that are good.. Tangled is SO CUTE, Despicable Me is good and so is How to Train your Dragon :)
Can't wait to see what you pick and what you watch :)
Love Pixar movies! You must see "UP" and all the Toy Stories! As far as Disney Princess movies go, watch "Snow White." I literally watched it every single day of my life as a kid. No joke.
ReplyDeleteLibby: I thought Netflix isn't available in Europe? At least not for Austria. And I'm going to buy Season 8-10 as well. I already bough S 1-7, it would be weird not to buy the rest. (And they look great in the bookshelf :P)
ReplyDeleteShaynie: Okay, I'll see what I can get. :)
Miss Eyebright: I think I really missed something by not watching Disney/Pixar movies. Thanks for the recommendations :)
RaiRamona: Haha, I only blog about hardcore movies? I've never thought about it that way.
I think about the whole Disney princess thing the same way, I just don't want that people forget where they actually come from.
And yes, I want to write about the movies I watch on my blog. I don't know how, but we'll see :)
Samantha: Thanks, Samantha. I can't wait either.
Natalie: Really, every day? Wow...I'll try to get it somewhere...
I love animated movies, but I don't watch them very much. :( Some of my favorites are Toy Story 1-3, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, The Little Mermaid 1&2, The Aristocats, Finding Nemo, Despicable Me, Lady and the Tramp 1&2... :)
