Am I the only one in this pretty universe who sometimes suffers from massive music confusions? This moment when I listen to a song for the 25th time and suddenly wonder why I'm listening to it. Why do I enjoy it? Why, oh why?
Music is pretty important for me. I listen to music a lot, but not like many people all the time. There are moments when the last thing I want is music.
When it comes to my favorite music you can find a list here. These are pretty much my favorite bands. I love their music. Their music means a lot to me. This is the music that influences and inspires me. BUT. A big BUT. It's also the music I don't listen to that often. I probably listen to my music confusions more often than to my all time favorite band Ezra Furman and the Harpoons.
What's the reason that I listen to Swedish techno right now? Okay. This one is easy to explain. Lena sent me a link and here we go. Catchy song. Awful, but catchy. And that's how I rule.
I spent the last month listening to Lady Gaga. I hardly ever listened to anything else. I listened to her album The Fame Monster on my way to university, while shopping, on the train, at night while browsing through the web. All the time. I'm away from Gaga now. Not completely. I still listen to it. And enjoy it.
But Lady Gaga had to move for my new confusion. MIKA. I just bought his first (?) album. MIKA is not so bad. There are some songs I like a lot (really like, not like Lady Gaga). I'm sure you don't want to see my iTunes. It's a collection of my beloved music confusions and awesome GOOD music.
Believe me, lyrics are important to me. I listen to lyrics (most of the time) and I really care about what the songs I call my favorite songs are about.
I also try to get behind the lyrics of my confusions, but no matter what the songs are about, I won't stop listening to it just because the lyrics are about something I disagree with.
I know that Telephone by Lady Gaga is one of the most ridiculous songs ever written. No reason for me to stop listening to it.
My confusion music is here for me to cope with difficult situations, to get through days with university, to dance around crazy in my room… It doesn’t influence my thinking or doing other than to make my days better.
And that’s okay…
Do you also have such confusions?
PS.: My blog anniversary is on May 18th. Any ideas how I could celebrate it? Giveaway ideas? Another Q&A vlog? I have no idea what to do… :/
PPS.: I really chew a lot on my head phone cable…
Music is a great thing.
ReplyDeleteI could have sworn I already commented on this. Maybe I am losing my mind...
ReplyDeleteSometimes I don't care about the lyrics just because I like the song and it seems to fit me whenever I listen to it. Ironically the songs with the "blah" lyrics are the easiest for me to remember. *sings* "Now I'm feeling so fly like a G6." Yeah... ;) But I don't like Lady Gaga enough to listen to her music. :P
Shaynie: Yes, it is. :)
ReplyDeleteHope: Haha. yeah. Those blah songs are the easiest to remember. I don't like this G6 song, but I'm addicted to a spoof of it.
Late night mind losing is a common disease. Don't worry about it. ;)
