QuestionMonth - Week One

If you don't know what QuestionMonth is, click HERE or just leave a Question in the Formspring-Question-Box in the sidebar :)

Questions answered: 69 (thank you, insane Bleah! ;) )

Not answered yet: Three:

  • What's Christmas like in Austria? asked by RiaRamona
  • What do you think about Obama? asked by Bleah
  • If you could be a character in any book who would you be? asked anonymously (please leave a name!)
I haven't answered this questions, because they are hard to answer and I have to think a bit about what to answer. But I will answer!

Some questions + answers:

RiaRamona asked:
Did you grow up speaking English, or did you study it? :) I was thinking of my Spanish. I'm studying it, and I don't know if I'll ever be fluent in it.
No problem about asking it twice. I'll answer it again, so that others can read it as well.
I didn't grew up speaking English. I learned it at school (9 years long) and I improved my skills by watching tons of movies, reading books, blogging, reading blogs and watching YouTube videos.
If you want to improve your language skills I would suggest to watch movies and read books.
And don't be scared of using the language!
Shaynie and RiaRamona asked:
How CAN you dislike poems and plays?
Haha, thanks for asking, Shaynie ;)
I've never been into poems. Of course, when I was younger I loved to memorize poems for childrens and I still think that there are some cute ones. But later I read many different kinds of poems and I didn't like any of them (except poems by Gottfried Benn - the only poems I like).
I can't really say WHY I don't like poems. Maybe it's the way how the author expresses his/her feelings.
And I found out that EVERYBODY can write poems. You just have to put some words together and play around and everybody will think you had some great thoughts while writing.
Funny story: We once had to write poems for school and I had much fun putting words together without thinking much. My teacher read the poems and was impressed how talented I am. She interpreted the poems and asked what I thought while writing and I said "Nothing. I just put words together." :D
I don't know if this answers the question.

It's similar with plays. The only plays I like to read are Ionesco plays (if you find them somewhere in English - read them!).
I don't like plays because I find them boring all the time and I can't stand seeing a play on stage. Boring, boring, boring ;)
And the thing about theatre is, that everything's so unrealistic! Everything's a bit extreme. The acting, the clothes, everything! It's not like real life. Movies instead are more like real life. Not always the stories, but how people are dressed and act is more realistic.

Wow, this was a loooong answer. But thanks for asking :)
Bleah asked:
Religion wise...what do you believe? If you don't mind me asking.
This is a hard one, because I'm not sure what to believe. As I said I grew up catholic, but I've never lived as a really religious person. We went to church and my parents told me about the Bible and other religious things, but that's it.
I lost interest in religion when I was about 12 years old and I lived about 4 years without caring much about religion. I wasn't an atheist or anything like that, I just didn't care.
Two or three years ago I get interested again and since then I'm on the way to define what I believe. I started reading the Bible and talked with other peoples at my age what they believe.
That's my current situation.
Thanks for asking :)
Bleah asked:
You're serious? You don't have a middle name?????? WHY?!
Middle names are not a big thing here in Austria. Many people don't have one and if you have one, nobody cares that you have one ;) I also know some people who have a middle name, but never tell, that they have one. I was suprised when I found out, that in the US almost everybody has a middle name and that is that important.

Thanks to everybody who asked me questions!
Feel free to leave some more! I LOVE answering questions and I hope some of you LOVE asking questions :)

  4. You're Catholic? That's awesome! Me, too! I'll find a list of books and websites I can refer to you that will help you in your religious pursuits. ;) Then, I'll comment 'em. :D

  5. Hi, Antonia! I've been through the same situation when it comes to religion. I'm Catholic, and I "explored" until I realized that all I had to do was understand more my own faith. Anyway, I don't want to sound preachy, (I'd rather sound like a friend giving advice.) so I'll just refer the following to you:

    1. The Bible - Best if you could read it with a guide like Introduction to the Scriptures by John Laux

    2. The movie Passion of the Christ since I know you love movies.

    3. http://www.opusdei.at/

    4. I'm also inviting you to the World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid Spain. (http://madrid11.com/) I'll be there, so maybe I'll bump into you if you go, too. It's a gathering of the youth, who want to define what they believe. It's open to everybody, actually, Catholics, Protestants, etc.

    5. http://www.ewtn.com/

I hope I could find you more media, but I kinda have stuff to do right now. Have fun, though! I'll pray for you! :D

I've heard about World Youth Day before. I would love to go there...
